Global Navigation

The previous version of HGTV’s global navigation was always changing items based on trending content: 😱. With the successful launch of the new Discovery.com, we overhauled the global navigation for HGTV.com with the Discovery.com navigation as our guide and with the intention that the new HGTV navigation upgrade can scale to other brands including Food Network.

Below is a presentation of proposed navigation options that the product and design team created for HGTV stakeholders, which includes our thought process, reference examples and user goal oriented test scenarios:

Photo Inspiration

Since HGTV.com launched Photo Inspiration in 2017, the product has not been re-evaluated to determine its user value and how to evolve it to further drive utility. Based on customer feedback, we are working towards making Photo Inspiration a more personalized experience for design and decor inspiration as well as a tool for finding inspiration when planning a specific project. Ultimately, Photo Inspiration should help customers find photos that inspire their home, enable them to save and share photos they like, and display and/or recommend filters, trends, styles, and photos based on what customers might want to see more of.

Moments of Delight

During my time at HGTV, we worked on a series of initiatives to add delight to some of our product features.

WELCOME EMAIL

We turned an outdated, static email template into a brand new seasonal template to really give our HGTV newsletter subscribers a reason to open the email they signed up for and explore all that HGTV has to offer.

SHOPPING INTERSTITIAL LOADERS

When shopping from an article, sometimes it takes a bit too long to get redirected to another site to make a purchase. Instead of looking at a blank screen or a canned, boring loader, we created cute and colorful animated loaders to make it worth the wait.
